On 15 September, the second day of the Asia Cup 2025 match was played between Sri Lanka and Hong Kong. Sri Lanka beat Hong Kong by 4 wickets. Pathum Nissanka scored 68 runs. Sri Lanka's official qualification for the Super 4 stage became the second team after India.

Anshy Rath (48) provided some fight in the middle overs, while Nizakat Khan (52) attempted to steady the innings. Wanindu Hasaranga's spin, however, continued to destroy the middle order as wickets fell. In 20 overs, Hong Kong finally collapsed for 149.

With two wickets and two runs, Dushmantha Chameera was the best bowler. Wanindu Hasaranga and Dasun Shanaka each took one wicket and one run.

Sri Lanka started slowly, aiming for a small goal of 150. Pathum Nissanka (68). Despite taking a few wickets in the middle overs, Sri Lanka was easily led home by Kusal Perera's 20 off 16 balls, Wanindu Hasaranga's 20, and Kamil Mishara's 19. They won by 4 wickets after reaching 153/6 in 18.5 overs.

Hong Kong bowing performance: Captain Yasim Murtaza took 2 wickets, Ayush Shukla, Ehsan Khan, and Aizaz Khan took 1 wicket each. 

Sri Lanka Officially Qualifies for Super 4, Hong Kong Knocks Out

After this win against Hong Kong, Sri Lanka became the second team to qualify for the Super 4 after India. Otherwise, Hong Kong lost all three of its matches in the group stage and was eliminated from the tournament.
