Return to field possible till IPL; Injured while fielding in South Africa
Suryakumar Yadav has undergone successful groin surgery in Germany. He informed about this through social media post. Surya has undergone groin injury surgery for the second time, he can return to India in a week.
After the surgery, Suryakumar will rehab at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. From where he is likely to be fit for this year's IPL.
Operation done in Munich
The surgery of world number-1 T20 batsman Suryakumar Yadav took place on Wednesday under the supervision of expert doctors from Munich. Before him, KL Rahul had also undergone sports hernia operation in Munich in 2022. Rahul became fit and started playing after a month, but it may take up to 2 months for Surya to become fit.
Had ankle injury also in South Africa
Surya was injured while playing T-20 International in South Africa last month. He suffered an ankle injury while fielding. After which he had ankle surgery. After that surgery, he also underwent sports hernia surgery. Due to two surgeries, it will take more time for him to get fit.
Will be fit till IPL, will also play World Cup
According to the report of Cricbuzz, BCCI sources said that Suryakumar Yadav will be fit by this year's IPL. The tournament is likely to start in the last week of March. Right after IPL, T20 World Cup will also start in West Indies and America from June 1st. Surya will be fit for this also.
NCA got the surgery done while watching the World Cup
The National Cricket Academy (NCA) takes care of the fitness and training of cricketers in India. NCA itself had insisted on Surya undergoing surgery in January, so that he could be completely fit before the World Cup. He was rehabbing at NCA before going to Germany.
Last year, Jasprit Bumrah, Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul also underwent surgery under the guidance of NCA. All three players stayed away from cricket for a few months, but became completely fit till the ODI World Cup. India reached the final of the World Cup and was runner-up.
