WPL 2026: Perry And Sutherland Unavailable Due To Personal Reasons
Updated - 31-DEC-2025 6:24 IST

In a shocking development ahead of the 2026 Women's Premier League (WPL), Australian all-rounders Ellyse Perry and Annabel Sutherland have both pulled out of this season's event, citing personal reasons.
Perry, an important part of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), and Sutherland, a key recruit for Delhi Capitals (DC), were expected to play significant roles in their respective teams. However, on December 30, 2025, the WPL announced that both players would skip the fourth edition of the competition.
The withdrawals are one of the biggest late-season blows for the WPL, which is set to begin on January 9, 2026, with matches in Navi Mumbai and Vadodara.
Replacements Announced
To fill the spot left by the two Australian stars, teams have been fast to nominate replacements. The RCB has signed Sayali Satghare as Perry's replacement for INR 30 lakh, adding depth to their all-round lineup. Meanwhile, the Delhi Capitals have signed Australian leg spinner Alana King for INR 60 lakh to take Sutherland's place on the roster. Both players have valuable experience and are hungry to make an impact.
Tara Norris is Also Not available
Also, the UP Warriorz have made their own change: left-arm seamer Tara Norris has been called up to the USA squad for the forthcoming 2026 ICC Women's T20 World Cup Qualifier in Nepal. Charli Knott, an unused Australian all-rounder, has been hired as a replacement for her.
