On 20 July, the International Cricket Council (ICC) confirmed that England will host the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) Finals for the next three years, a significant announcement that underscores England's influence in shaping the direction of Test cricket. England's world-class infrastructure, cricketing tradition, and the historical significance of known sites like Lord's and The Oval are all represented in this selection.
WTC Final To Stay In England Until 2029-31
England will host the next WTC Finals in 2025, 2027, and 2029. Lord's Cricket Ground, known as the "Home of Cricket," is already set to host the 2025 tournament. Although the official locations for the 2027 and 2029 finals have not yet been announced, it is generally anticipated that, like in previous cycles, Lord's and The Oval will take turns hosting.
The raised daylight hours in June, the good early summer weather in England, and the high attendance rates from past WTC Finals all had an impact on the selection.
The last edition of WTC 2023-25 was played at Lord's between Australia and South Africa on June 11-15. South Africa won their maiden WTC trophy and ICC trophy after 27 years.
Why England?
Historic Sites: In addition to providing history, venues such as Lord's and The Oval also exude a feeling of grandeur and distinction appropriate for a World Trade Center Final.
Infrastructure: England is a convenient and fan-friendly destination because of its outstanding stadiums, transportation systems, and hospitality offerings.
Neutral Ground: England offers a fair and impartial venue that eliminates home advantage because WTC finalists could come from anywhere.
