Preview :

The 1st T20I match between India and England will be played on 7th July at the Rose Bowl, Southampton. After a thrilling 5th Test Match won by England, it is time for the white-ball series between England and India. The scheduling of this series has meant that India's squad for the first T20 international is the same as what played against Ireland but it will change from the second match on.
England is going to be led by Jos Buttler after Eoin Morgan retired from international cricket and will be looking to make the most of a golden generation of English white-ball players. With the T20 World Cup 2022 just a few months away, the T20 series is perhaps more important than any other format.

England has named Jos Buttler as their white-ball captain and it will be very interesting to see if Buttler's performances will be affected or if he changes his role to suit the needs of the team. Not a single player involved in the Test Series has been named for the T20 internationals. Also, there are a number of players like Jofra Archer, Tom Curran, Saqib Mahmood, Mark Wood, Adil Rashid, and Chris Woakes that are not available for selection for various reasons. The fact that England still goes in as favorites shows just how deep a talent pool it has at the moment.

India's T20 team for the first match is not going to be bothered about what happened in the Test Match since none of the players were a part of it. Also, Rohit Sharma is back as captain and will be able to disassociate himself from external distractions to focus his team on the job at hand. India won the two T20 internationals against Ireland quite comprehensively. It also won the two T20 warm-up matches against Derbyshire and Northamptonshire. Now, however, is when the real challenge starts. Rohit Sharma is likely to open the batting with Ishan Kishan. An excellent opening partnership that has shown intent to score quickly in the powerplay even if it means a drop in the overall individual averages. Suryakumar Yadav, Deepak Hooda, Hardik Pandya, and Dinesh Karthik should form the rest of the batting lineup.
