Preview :
With the first game getting washed out, England and Pakistan will face each other for the first time in the ongoing four-match series when they play the 2nd T20I match at Edgbaston in Birmingham on Saturday.
This series is the only chance for England and Pakistan to get their combination right ahead of the 2024 T20 World Cup, scheduled to start on June 2, as unlike other teams, both these teams will not be playing any warm up match. So expect a high-octane, World Cup like intensity from both teams’ players.
The English team will be playing a T20I game after a gap of around five months, as their last series was in December 2023. With the T20 World Cup 2024 around the corner, the defending champions will be looking to tick all the boxes before entering the marquee event. The ongoing series will be very important for the Jos Buttler-led side as they will not be playing any warm-up games leading up to the global event.
On the other hand, Pakistan are also playing their last T20I series ahead of the month-long tournament in the West Indies and USA. The Babar Azam-led side recently played a three-match T20I series against Ireland and won the series by 1-2 margin. The Men in Green will be gunning to offer a tough fight to the Three Lions at their home.
