Gujarat Titans will be squaring off against Rajasthan Royals for the second time in the first Qualifier match of this season of the Tata IPL.
Gujarat Titans became the first team to qualify for the playoffs and then with a win over Punjab Kings, they sealed their position at the top of the ladder. They were brilliant right from the outset and won 10 out of a total of 14 games played in the league stage. Alongside that, they had the tournament best net run rate of 0.316, which speaks volumes about how dominant they were though that net run-rate is not going to matter anymore.
Royals had their issues with inconsistency in the middle part of the league stage, they managed to finish the round with two wins in their last two matches and consequently making it to top-two. They eventually finished the group stage with 9 wins from 14 games and a net run-rate of 0.298, which proved to be the difference between them and the Lucknow Super Giants as far as the race for the second spot was concerned.
