Preview :

The host India (IND) will take on guest England (ENG) in the opening T20I match of the England tour of India. This match will be played at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. This will be the first white-ball series between these two sides since that thrilling three-match T20I series in 2022, in which India came out on top, winning the series 2-1. Defending champions India will take on England in five T20Is from 22 January, in Kolkata, Chennai, Rajkot, Pune, and Mumbai. This promises to be a thrilling series with plenty of records set to be broken and we can expect a lot of high scoring matches.

India will be led by Suryakumar Yadav. Rishabh Pant and Yashasvi Jaiswal were both rested from the squad, with Sanju Samson set to take up wicketkeeping responsibilities with Dhruv Jurel being the backup. Nitish Kumar Reddy, Harshit Rana, and Washington Sundar all feature in the squad despite missing the last series in South Africa. Mohammad Shami returns to the side for the first time since WC 2023 and the pacer will be looking to get in some workload before the Champions Trophy. They have a very excting squad.

On the other hand, England have named a full strength squad for this series with Jos Buttler leading the side. The batting order comprises of Duckett, Salt, Brook and Livingstone amongst others. Adil Rashid will lead the spin attack with Rehan in the backup. Jofra Archer and Mark Wood will spearhead the pace bowling attack while Gus Atkinson will provide support. Coach Mcculum who will be taking charge of the white ball setup has confirmed that Jos Buttler will not take the gloves this series and Salt is expected to keep wickets.
