Preview :
The Super 4 stage of the Asia Cup 2022 will see the second clash between arch-rivals India and Pakistan on Sunday. The age-old cricketing rivalry between these two nations is what makes the Indo-Pak clashes thrilling.
India has been in terrific form in this tournament so far and managed to win both of their league stage games. Their batting has been their strength. The return in form of Virat Kohli could prove to be crucial in this match once again. India bowled very well in the match against Pakistan but its bowling looked a bit short on ideas against Hong Kong. Not having Hardik Pandya was a massive blow but he is expected to be back for this match. India is also going to be without Ravindra Jadeja for this match since he has been ruled out of the tournament with an injury.
India could replace him with Axar Patel, a like-for-like replacement that will weaken India's batting somewhat. Or, they could bring in someone like Deepak Hooda that will strengthen the batting but just weaken the bowling a bit.
On the other hand, Pakistan defeated Hong Kong in a one-sided affair by a massive margin of 155 runs in their second league stage game to make their way to the Super 4 stage. Their bowlers wrapped up Hong Kong innings at a mere 38. Their bowling has been their biggest strength in this format, and they will be banking on their main bowlers to get them through in this game as well. In the last head-to-head game, India defeated Pakistan by 5 wickets. Pakistan would be desperate to avenge the loss while India would be hoping to continue their dominance in this game as well. Another cracking game of cricket is expected here on Sunday.
