Preview :
India and Pakistan will play the 16th match of the T20 World Cup 2022 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Sunday (Octobe 23). This will be the third T20I match between the two arch-rivals this year, with each team winning one. Pakistan defeated India by five wickets in the final game of the Asia Cup, after losing by the same score in the first game. India's batting unit looks lethal on paper and have performed quite well in the warmup games as well but their bowling department in something which needs to push themselves more. India is playing the T20 World Cup 2022 without services of its key T20 players Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja. Shami, who hasn't played a single T20 game for India since last edition of T20 World Cup, was announced as last-minute injury replacement for Bumrah. His last-over heroics against Australia in IND vs AUS warmup match has given a big boost of confidence to the Men in Blue.
Pakistan comes into this match with a lot of momentum. It has a pretty stable and predictable way of playing T20 cricket which has brought it a fair bit of success. Winning the tri-series in New Zealand was a good sign, especially as Pakistan's bowling was not at full strength. They will have Shaheen Afridi (The Falcon) back at the helm of the attack. He is one of the all-time greats when it comes to powerplay bowling in T20 cricket and he is still in the early stages of his career. Supporting him is Haris Rauf, a bowler that has the pace and skill to bowl at any stage of the inning, Naseem Shah, and two brilliant spinners that can be used as the matchups dictate.
