The surface in Abu Dhabi is balanced surface with a good amount of assistance for batters and bowlers, The batters have enjoyed their time at this venue, with the Desert Vipers registering the highest score of the tournament on this very pitch in the last game. Preview :

Ireland will take on South Africa in the 2nd of the 3-matches ODI series on Friday. Ireland were below par with the bat in the series opener and ended up losing the game by 139 runs. South Africa on the other hand, shouldn’t get carried away following their success in the 1st ODI which got them a 1-0 lead.

Ireland had no answers against efficient bowling from South Africans and easily gave up the match, losing all 10 wickets for 132 in the series opener on Wednesday. They were largely troubled by the ball coming in with only 3 batters making 20 and above. Shot selection from some of the batters needs to be questioned.

Earlier in the innings, Mark Adair and Craig Young were rewarded for some exceptional bowling, picking up 4 wickets and 3 wickets respectively. Fielding was brilliant with former skipper Andy Balbirnie, pocketing 4 catches.

Batters need to find form in the 2nd ODI before the series slips away from their hands.

After a tough last few weeks in UAE, a massive margin of win over Ireland in the 1st ODI came as a soothing for South Africa who took a 1-0 lead. Ryan Rickelton and Tristan Stubbs provided the much need comfort when they were in danger at 39 for 3, by stitching a 152-run stand as a result, the Proteas piled up a challenging 271 for 9 in the allotted 50 overs.

In response, the fast bowlers led the charge and gave nightmares to Irish batters with attacking lines and lengths and limited them to a paltry 132. Lizaad Williams with his top notch inswingers got 3 wickets upfront and earned his 4th and final wicket with a well-directed short delivery. Lungi Ngidi and Bjorn Fortuin scalped 2 wickets apiece, while, Ottniel Baartman and Wiaan Mulder got a wicket each.
