Preview :

Karachi Kings are now at the edge of being eliminated from PSL 2021-22. They have lost all four of the matches that they have played and absolutely need to win this next match against Islamabad United. For a team that has been as impressive as Islamabad United has, it would be disappointed to have won just two out of the four matches it has played. Karachi Kings came up short in their chase against Peshawar Zalmi in the previous match that they played. Babar Azam top-scored with 90 not out but that was still not enough to get the team over the line. Sharjeel Khan got out for a duck and the weak middle-order was once more exposed. It almost seems like bot Babar and Sharjeel need to score runs for the Karachi Kings to have a chance. Ian Cockbain got a start but was unable to convert that into a big score either. We are not sure how useful he or Lewis Gregory are going to be batting in the middle overs when the spinners are on and making it difficult. Islamabad United would be very disappointed to lose its previous match to the Lahore Qalandars. 39 runs were needed from 30 deliveries with 8 wickets in hand but that proved to be too much as a flurry of wickets derailed the chase. Shadab Khan is in the form of his life and once again led the way with both bat and ball while Colin Munro also seems to be striking the ball very well. It is interesting that Paul Stirling is being preferred by the management above Rahmanullah Gurbaz who is also very effective in the subcontinental conditions. In terms of batting strength and power, we think Islamabad United has the advantage. Where Islamabad United is slipping up, though, is in the bowling department. None of its fast-bowlers have been effective and in fact, went for plenty in the previous match as well. Shadab Khan and Mubasir Khan bowled 8 overs of spin that helped keep the score to a manageable total.
