Preview :
Kolkata Knight Riders will be playing against Lucknow Super Giants in the 66th match of the Tata IPL 2022 at the Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy, Mumbai. Teams are about to play their final IPL 2022 League matches and there is still a lot to play for. The Kolkata Knight Riders have won their previous two matches and come into this contest against the Lucknow Super Giants very much in the race for a playoff place.
KKR needs to win this match with a massive margin and then hope that DC and RCB lose their final matches as well.
LSG, on the other hand, has fewer worries. They just need to win this match or ensure that they do not lose by a huge margin. They are already on 16 points and are likely to qualify even if they lose this match. LSG's motivation is going to be more about trying to finish in the Top-2.
KKR has won its previous two matches and has found some needed momentum at this late stage in the IPL. in fact, the previous match that KKR lost was against LSG just over a week ago. Andre Russell has been in tremendous form and his contributions in the previous two wins have been massive.
We think betting on him is an easy decision. You could bet on him to Hit A Six or look for a combination bet for him to Hit A Six and Pick up a Wicket. KKR is going to be without Rahane and that will force them to make a change since Rahane was already the backup opener. Baba Inderjith could get one more run at the top of the order.
The batting lineup for KKR is certainly not weak but with so much pressure on it to score runs and try and get a big win, it will be forced to take unnecessary risks. Every player will have to come out and smash the ball from the very first ball. From a betting point of view, that indicates wickets likely to fall in the powerplay, more sixes to hit than usual, and some changes in the batting order.
LSG has lost two matches on the trot since it last beat KKR. This season, LSG has been one of the best teams batting first and the worst while chasing. This is something to keep in mind, especially now that the wickets seem to be favoring the teams that are batting first. LSG has been misfiring a bit with the bat and it needs KL Rahul or Quinton de Kock to start dominating at the top once more. Both these batters have the ability to get set and play the big innings. This is important for a team like LSG that has quality openers and a strong set of finishers but nothing in between.
Krunal Pandya and Ayush Badoni are sent in as pinch hitters to try and just take the game deep. Deepak Hooda, Marcus Stoinis, and Jason Holder provide the power in the LSG lineup. There can be some problems for LSG on a pitch that starts to take some spin.
