The seventh edition of the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) is all set to begin on Monday, June 12, as Lyca Kovai Kings will be taking on IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans in the opening match of the league. Notably, Lyca were crowned the joint-winners last season after rain played spoilsport in the final. Thus, they will be eager to repeat the same and take the trophy home this season. Coming to the Tirppur-based side, the team finished fifth on the points table last time, and courtesy of the same, they failed to qualify for the playoffs. In their final league game last season, Tiruppur defeated Lyca Kovai Kings by two runs and will be motivated to bag two points again.
The Lyca Kovai Kings and the Chepauk Super Gillies were declared co-champions last year after the final was washed out due to rain.
