Preview :

Mumbai Indians will take on Kolkata Knight Riders in match number 56 of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 on Monday (May 9) at Dr DY Patil Stadium, Navi Mumbai.

Mumbai Indians, after an awful performance in the first stage of IPL 2022, were the first team of the season to be eliminated from the race of playoffs with eight losses in 10 matches. Even if MI wins all its four remaining matches from here, that won't rectify the loss. Though too late, MI returned to winning ways after clinching the previous two matches in their favour. While as, the probability for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to reach to play-offs evaporated after Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) vanquished them by 75 runs on Saturday. KKR have won just four out of 11 matches so far with only eight points on the table. Now suppose KKR manages to win all three of its remaining matches, that will yield them 14 points meanwhile there are other teams who have already past 14 points with couple of matches left to play, so the situation is quite obscure for Kolkata Knight Riders now and have nil chances to make it to play-offs. MI and KKR still have a game to play and show to put on, hence we have compiled our dream playing eleven of the contest.

Baba Indrajith:

Baba Indrajith is young top order wicket keeper batsman of KKR, this is first IPL, he has played only 3 IPL matches so far, has scored only 21 runs, these are very good young player but their performance has yet to get a new impetus. He scored 100 & 52 runs in his last match played by Tamil Nadu team. Punt pick.

Sheldon Jackson:

Sheldon Jackson is also a young player but his IPL performance is not good, his played total 8 match in IPL his last 4 match performance is: 3,0,7,8. When the performance inside this player wakes up, it will be known later.

Batters :

Rohit Sharma :

He has scored only 198 runs this season at an average of 19.80, with his highest score being 43 in the last match. However, Rohit Sharma is a phenomenal batsman and also a top pick for captaincy.

Tilak Varma in his 3 matches at this venue this season has scored 35, 51* & 61 runs respectively. Must have pick.

Nitish Rana :

Nithish Rana looking in fine touch with bat from couple of matches, unfortunately got out on just 2 runs in last match, befor that he's played magnificent knock (48 of 37) against Rajasthan. Overall he has scored 250 runs in 11 matches. He will be a great budget punt pick.

Tim David:

Tim David is the batting all-rounder from Singapore , he was dropped from the side for a few games, Making a great comeback against Gujarat in the last match played aggressive 44* runs knock while striking at a massive 187.8. would have boosted his confidence and he will look to replicate the performance in the today's game.

Aaron Finch:

Aaron Finch has played only 5 matches for KKR and has scored a half-century. Finch smashed 58 off 28 balls against RR. After that he Scored only 21 runs in three matches, scored just 14 runs in last match against Lucknow. He struggles against fast bowlers in inswing bowling. Risky pick.

He has played 4 matches in the season and has done exceptionally well in 3 in out of 4 matches. The scores of all four matches are as follows- 6, 42*, 23 & 35. He is the only plyer in this edition who has scored over 250 runs & picked up 10+ wickets. He has played 13 matches against MI scored 194 runs with SR of 147, and also picked up 11 wkts which makes him default captaincy choice for today's match.

Kieron Pollard :

Kieron Pollard is a T20 specialist plyer but in this season his strike rate has slightly dropped as compared to the previous season. Scored just 4 runs & picked up 1 wicket against Gujarat in the last match, didn't take any wicket against Rajasthan, before the against Lucknow while bowling brilliantly took 2 wickets for only 8 runs. Overall this season, 121 runs have been scored in ten matches with an average of 14.33 and four wickets in bowling. Solid pick for GL

Sunil Narine :

Sunil Narine is a star all-rounder, he is a outstanding specialy T20 farmet. He has been superb with the ball. In his spell in the last match, he took 1 wicket for only 20 runs in 4 overs and smashed 22 runs on just 12 ball with bat as well. The mystery spinner has picked 8 wickets in 11 matches for KKR at an average of 28.75 but has not been able to preformed well with the bat. He has managed to reach a double-digit score only once. Can be decent yet consistent with his contributions as he was able to find 1 wicket in the last match with an economy rate of 4.75. Must have pick.

Daniel Sams:

Daniel Sams is match winner for MI in last match, he didn’t pick a wicket in the last game, however, his last over was the reason MI could cross the line. He gave away just 3 runs in the final over and helped MI win the match by 5 runs. He was took only 1 wicket in his first 3 matches this season and then was dropped for some matches. He then made a good comeback and thus in his recent 5 matches he has taken 7 wickets and now has looks in good rhythm. Can contribute with both bat & ball in this match, punt pick.

Bowlers :

Jasprit Bumrah:

Jasprit Bumrah is a death overs specialist as well bowled 1 or 2 overs in Powerplay. He has not lit up the IPL in the way he did in the past couple of seasons managing just 5 wickets from his 10 matches. In the last 6 matches, he has been able to take only 1 wicket, while the bowling very well & economical, And this is the fourth time in the last five matches that he did not get any wicket. However, this doesn't change the fact that he is one of the key players for Ml and might finally hit the top of his mark in this game. Will be a great pick for grand league.

Umesh Yadav :

Umesh Yadav has been excellent with the ball for KKR. He is the leading wicket taker for Kolkata with 15 wickets in 10 matches at an average of 19.06, an economy of 7.15, He has taken 5 wickets in the last 3 matches. Shivam Mavi :

Shivam Mavi done very well from last few matches. While bowling economical(except last match) in the last five matches, he has taken one wicket each. In the last match too, he took one wicket for 50 against Lucknow. Very good pick.

Murugan Ashwin:

Murugan Ashwin is the main spin option for MI, He was the top performer for MI in the last game with the ball. He picked 2 important wickets, he dismissed both the openers of Gujarat. Overall He has played 7 matches in this season in which he has taken 8 wickets with an average of 24.13 and an economy of 7.72, good pick.

Riley Meredith:

Riley Meredith is inform bowler he has been consistent with his wicket-taking skills, taken five wickets in just four matches in this edition, Last match of it could not be achieved in taking any wicket. This has happened for the first time this season and this is his first time in his last 6 T20 innings. Hence, he is quality bowler will be Bounce back today's game. Good pick.

Kumar Kartikeya :

Kumar Kartikeya bowled brilliantly, didn't able to take any wicket in last game. if he gets a little help from the picth, then it will prove to be very useful for that condition. The wrist spinner took only one wicket in 2 matches of this season. But bowled very economical, he made many variations in his bowling. Punt pick
