Preview :
Namibia will face Nepal in the ongoing ICC World Cup League 2 on Wednesday as it once again tries to move into the top 3 in the points table.
Namibia after an extended run of wins earlier this year, Namibia seems to have faltered a bit of late, as it has lost 2 of its last 5 matches. Namibia won his last game by 3 wickets against the Scotland. After this, Namibia is relatively well placed at the 3rd position on the points table and trails the Oman by just 7 points while having 8 matches in hand. Loftie-Eaton was once again in excellent form in the last game scoring an unbeaten 67. With that. Erasmus has extended his lead as the top run-getter for Namibia and has now scored 1118 runs at an average of close to 50. JJ Smit has been a great all-rounder for his team, as he has picked up 29 wickets and has also scored close to 624 runs, becoming the second-highest run-scorer. Jan Frylinck has been missing from the squad and that could lend a blow to Namibia’s ability to field another quality all-rounder. The other batsmen, including Van Lingen and Loftie Eaton, haven’t been very consistent. The bowling will once again rely on Bernard Scholtz and Ruben Trumpelmann, both of whom are two of the top wicket-takers for Namibia. Tangeni Lungameni has been pretty decent with his medium pacers.
Nepal hasn’t been in the best of forms as it has managed to win just 8 of the 21 matches played so far. The team has lost 4 of the last 5 games that it played in this tournament, and as a result, is second-last on the points table. However, since then, Nepal has won a T20 tournament against Kenya, and also a 3-match ODI series against the UAE, and will be feeling pretty confident as it heads into this leg. Aasif Sheikh and Rohan Paudel have been the pick of the batsmen in an otherwise underwhelming batting line-up of Nepal, and have scored 481 and 434 runs respectively. Aarif Sheikh and Kushal Bhurtel have got some decent starts but have failed to make a big impact on the proceedings. As expected, the bowling for Nepal has been heavily reliant on Sandeep Lamicchane, who has picked up 42 wickets from 20 matches. He has received good support from veteran all-rounder Karan KC, who has 37 wickets and 130 runs against his name. Other than them, there is nothing much to write about Nepal’s bowling this season.
