Preview :
1.52pmTest cricket is back in South Africa! The Proteas host India for a three-match Test series and the first Test, which is a Boxing Day Test is set to be played at SuperSport Park, Centurion. However, the entire series will be played behind closed doors amid Covid scare. The South African team would be itching to take the field as they will be playing Test cricket after a very long time. Their last Test series was against West Indies which they won 2-0. This time around, they have a lot of new faces in their squad and this series against India will also mark the beginning of their 2021-23 World Test Championship cycle. The South Africans did not have a great time in the previous WTC cycle and they will look to make amends when they face the No.1 ranked Test side, India at home. They will be led by Dean Elgarand they have also added some new faces in the form of Ryan Rickeltonand Sisanda Magalafor this tour. Their premier keeper-batter, Quinton de Kockwill be playing the first Test at Centurion but has made himself unavailable for the next two Tests. Also, their pacer, Anrich Nortjehas been ruled out of the Test series due to persistent injury and this a big loss for them. Having said that, Nortje's absence against India could pave an international comeback for Duanne Olivier. The Proteas are a decent side, comprising of some talented batters like Aiden Markram, Rassie van der Dussenand Temba Bavumawho have been in good form recently. The last time South Africa faced India in a Test series was in October 2019 in India where they were beaten comprehensively and they will now look to bounce back stronger. India, on the other hand, will be confident going into this series, considering their recent performances in red-ball cricket. They are coming into this tour having won their previous home series against New Zealand 1-0. Like South Africa, India too have a couple of injury woes, with Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja being ruled out of the series. This gives Mayank Agarwal a very good opportunity to prove his worth at the top alongside KL Rahul, especially in tough batting conditions.Only concern for India, lately has been the form of Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane who are the backbone of this Indian team. They will be eager to put their best foot forward in such a crucial series and create history by winning a Test series in South Africa for the very first time. This Indian team comprises of some fine pace bowlers and the likes of Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shamiwill be making a comeback after being rested for the New Zealand series. It will be interesting to see the kind of combination with which India goes into the first Test as they have a problem of plenty. Can Virat Kohli and his men start off on a winning note in Centurion? We shall find that soon.

Keshav Maharaj
He will be a must-have budget pick in your team.
Mohammed Siraj
He had done well in previous tournament so far. He can make a healthy impact once again in this match.
