Preview :

New Zealand and Pakistan will face each other for the second time in the tri-series on Tuesday (October 11). In the first game last week, a brilliant knock by Babar Azam helped Pakistan reigster an emphatic victory over the hosts. Both teams beat Bangladesh in the first leg of the tournament. With the 2022 T20 World Cup just days away; New Zealand, Pakistan and Bangladesh are playing a tri-series against each other. All matches of the tournament are taking place at Christchurch's Hagley Oval. All teams are set to face each other twice before the big final.

The bowlers of New Zealand showed their bowling power in the previous match against Bangladesh. They leaked just 137 runs in 20 overs. New Zealand has top-class bowlers in their squad and they also have a lot of options to pick the best. They used seven bowlers in the previous match. M Bracewell was the most successful bowler from their side in the previous match where he picked up two wickets in four overs against just 14 runs. Trent Boult also picked two wickets in four overs while he was charged with 25 runs. Ish Sodhi was the other bowler with two wickets to his name in four overs against 31 runs. Tim Southee picked two wickets but he leaked a lot of runs. He was charged with 34 runs in four overs. Glenn Phillips, James Neesham, and Adam Milne were the bowlers who could not manage to pick any wicket. The batting order of New Zealand was also outstanding in the previous match against Bangladesh. They chased the target of 138 runs in just 17.5 overs with eight wickets in hand.

Pakistan had won two back-to-back matches in this tri-series. They beat Bangladesh in the first match and won the very next match against New Zealand. The bowling unit of Pakistan was just good in that match. They leaked just 147 runs in 20 overs. The bowlers of Pakistan a big pressure on the batters of New Zealand from the very first ball. Haris Rauf proved the most successful and highest wicket-taker from their side with three wickets in four overs against just 28 runs. Mohammad Wasim Jr was also good with the ball. He picked up two wickets while he leaked 20 runs in four overs. Mohammad Nawaz was the other bowler who picked two wickets in four overs but he leaked a lot of runs. He was charged with 44 runs. He was good in the first three overs but his fourth over costs 24 runs. S Dahani picked one wicket while Shadab Khan and Iftikhar Amhad were wicketless. The bowling unit of Pakistan is doing well in this series and there is no issue with it. The real problem of Pakistan is its batting department. The burden of scoring the runs is on Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan while the top batting order of Pakistan is struggling. Shan Masood, Khushdil Shah, Haidar Ali, and Iftikhar Ahmad failed once again in this series. If Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan don’t put some handsome runs on the board and fail to provide a good opening start, we can’t expect that Pakistan will put a defendable total on the board.
