Preview :
South Africa and India will battle it out in the third and final Test of the three-match series. With a gritty knock from the skipper, the hosts levelled the series 1-1 with an impressive win in the second Test by 7 wickets. Duanne Olivier’s addition was a boon for them as he wicket up some crucial wickets. The Proteas showed great technique against the top-quality Indian pace attack especially in the second innings, despite getting massive blows often on the body. India, on the other hand, missed their skipper Virat Kohli badly in the second Test. They were short of runs in the 1st innings although they showed more intent in the second. Experienced duo Pujara and Rahane scored half-centuries in the second innings and showed everyone they still have huge potential to score runs in the tough conditions. They haven’t won a Test series on South African soil and it’s an amazing opportunity for them to create history.
Team Guide
Make various team combination with the help of these information.
Wicketkeeper :
Quinton de Kock
Quinton de Kock is going to be a key player for the Proteas. The left-handed wicket-keeper batter has mustered 311 runs at an average of 38.87 in Test cricket since the Boxing Day Test last year. Moreover, he has been excellent behind the stumps.
Rishabh Pant
Rishabh Pant has been excellent for India in Test cricket over the last year or so. The left-handed wicket-keeper batter has scored 735 runs at an average of 40.83.
Batter :
KL Rahul
Lokesh Rahul smashed 146 runs in the 1st Test as his imperious batting display gave India a perfect start. Lokesh Rahul is in great form recently and can do well once again in this clash.
Virat Kohli
Virat Kohli has had an ordinary outing in the last match by his standards and a big inning is likely to be around the corner. Kohli has not registered a Test century since 2019 and it seems the right time for the Indian skipper to end this drought. Hence, use him as an alternative captain or vice-captain option.
Dean Elgar
Dean Elgar was on display with the bat in the last game where he smashed 78 runs. Elgar will look to add more to his tally in this game, making him a must-have pick.
Aiden Markram
Aiden Markram could be a top pick as vice-captain. The South African top-order batter has been in solid touch in Test cricket and has amassed 400 runs at an average of 44.44 in the last six Test matches which includes three fifties and a ton.
Rassie van der Dussen
Rassie van der Dussen has scored 321 runs in 8 innings this year at an average of 45.85. He has a top score of 75 and has scored 3 half centuries.
Mayank Agarwal
Mayank Agarwal has been in fine touch recently. He has made decent contributions with the bat in the recently concluded series against New Zealand. With the kind of form he is in, we can expect the runs to flow from Mayank's bat at the top.
All-rounder :
Ravichandran Ashwin
Ravichandran Ashwin will be another reliable captaincy pick in this match as he will have multiple opportunities to pile up points from both departments.
Wiaan Mulder
Wiaan Mulder has picked up 8 wickets at an average of 21.87 this year and has also chipped in with 93 runs. He is a good budget option here at 8 credits for the team.
George Linde
Marco Jansen looks in good rhythm after picking up 5 dismissals in the last match. He will be among the top fantasy picks once again.
Bowlers :
Kagiso Rabada
Kagiso Rabada can be backed as fantasy captain. The ace South African fast bowler has a terrific record at home with 141 wickets at an average of 20.09. In the 2018 series against India, he was the joint-highest wicket-taker with 15 wickets.
Jasprit Bumrah
Jasprit Bumrah picked up 5 wickets in the previous game and will be among the top fantasy picks for this match once again. He will be aiming for another successful outing here.
Duanne Olivier
Duanne Olivier is all set to return to Test cricket. The 29-year-old fast bowler has picked up 48 wickets in 10 Test matches and averages 19.25. Moreover, he has a bowling strike-rate of 30.
Shardul Thakur
Shardul Thakur is a wicket taking bowler who can also contribute with the bat. He has scalped 14 wickets at an average of 22.71 and has scored 186 runs at an average of 37.20 in this year.
Lungi Ngidi
Lungi Ngidi had a good last outing, picking up 8 wickets at a very healthy economy rate. He will be aiming for another successful outing here.
Mohammed Shami
Mohammed Shami gave an outstanding bowling performance in the 1st Test as he picked up 8 wickets in the match. He will be a key inclusion to fantasy squads.
