Preview :
Pakistan is now set to host Australia for a three-match ODI series and the opening ODI game is scheduled to be played on 29 March (Tuesday) at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi. Pakistan did not witnessed the best of fortunes during their last ODI assignment as they conceded a crushing 0-3 series loss in England. On the other hand, Australia defeated West Indies 2-1 in their most recent ODI series back in July 2021. The visiting Aussie side handed a 1-0 Test series defeat to Pakistan recently.
Australia scripted history with a terrific win on the last day of the third test and their win can be attributed to the fearless approach and excellent captaincy. The same is likely to be on display yet again, albeit in a different format with a different set to players.
Mitchell Marsh and Steve Smith are going to be missed and Cameron Green and Marnus Labuschagne respectively will be taking their place. Apart from that, Australians have not really been at their best in this format and would want to change things around with two limited-overs World Cups coming in the next two years.
Pakistan's fans would have hoped for a better outing from their side in the longest format of the game, but they won't really complain much largely because cricket is back in the country and Pakistan did, in fact, produced a fight against the mighty Aussies.
It will be an altogether different challenge for them in the limited-overs match and several expected changes in the lineup suggest that as well. Also, Pakistan have done well in the white-ball format and should be raring to go here. They have the personnel at their disposal and if they can play to their potential, getting past them is going to be incredibly difficult.
