Pitch Report:

The pitch at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium offers a batting-friendly surface in 20 over cricket. Their is swing on offer for the pacers at the start but it gets easier for the batters to face them once the ball gets a little old. The spinners come into the game in the middle orders and will take control of the scoring rate from 6 to 15 overs. However, it can also be a bit unpredictable at times, with occasional uneven bounce and spin as the match progresses, after winning the toss both teams want to chase here.

A total of around 180 will be a strong score for the team batting first.

Preview :

Pakistan is set to host New Zealand for a T20I series in what can be called a low-key engagement between the two sides. The New Zealand tour of Pakistan for 5 T20Is begins on April 18 with both the sides locking horns against each other in the opening encounter at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

Why we said it a low-key bilateral series is because New Zealand is not at their best as they travel to Pakistan for the T20I series. Most of their prominent T20I batters, who will actually walk into the playing11 anyday, are busy plying their trade in the ongoing IPL 2024. A second string squad has been offered to Pakistan by the New Zealand Cricket Board (NZC), which will be led by Michael Bracewell.

On the other side, Pakistan is on their full strength, at least on paper. Babar Azam has made a comeback in the captians capacity in the T20I side. He will replace Shaheen Shah Afridi, who was given just a solitary series run as the leader of the side.

Pakistan also marks the return of Imad Wasim and Mohammad Amir, who have take a U-turn from their international retirement only with the hopes of playing the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 in the Caribbean and the USA.

Team Guide

Makes various team combinations with the help of these information.

Mohammad Rizwan :

Mohammad Rizwan is known for his consistency who's knows the conditions of Rawalpindi well. He has also scored 622 runs at an average of 41.5 against the NZ in 18 matches including five half-centuries. On slow tracks, he becomes a vital factor to his side. The star player will also keep wickets for Pakistan. Hence, he becomes a great asset to the side. One of the best captaincy choice.

Tim Seifert :

Tim Seifert is the hard hitting opening batter who can provide quick starts to his team. If he gets going in the series, New Zealand will certainly feel the advantage. He was part of the recently concluded PSL where he's performed well, but he has manged to scored 245 runs, Avg - 27.2 against the Pakistan in 10 T20Is innings. Must have pick.

Babar Azam :

Babar Azam is back as the skipper of Pakistan. The star player will now lead Pakistan in the series against New Zealand and in the T20 World Cup 2024. The star batter has magnificent record against the Kiwi's, with 755 runs at an outstanding average of 44.4 in 20 matches which includes seven half-centuries and a century. Default c/vc pick.

Mark Chapman :

Mark Chapman was the top run getter for New Zealand when these two sides met each other in a T20I series in Pakistan. Overall he has 415 runs at an amazing average of 46.1 in 13 innings. He has two 50s & a 100s against them. The Southpaw adapted well to the Asian conditions. He is a proven player against spin and can take on the home side with intent. Hit or miss type player.

Iftikhar Ahmed :

Iftikhar Ahmed is a multi-dimensional player. He can bat a bit higher in the order and anchor the innings. His natural role is to finish the innings in which he is very good. With the ball, he can be handy with his part-time bowling option. Good pick.

Imad Wasim :

Imad Wasim is all set for his return to the National setup only adds to the strength of the squad. He performed superbly in the recently concluded PSL. He will play a major role for Pakistan in the upcoming matches. Overall he's played 66 T20Is matches and scored just 486 runs, Avg - 15.19, also picked up 65 wickets with the ball. Punt pick.

Jimmy Neesham :

Jimmy Neesham is in excellent touch and contributing to all the departments of the game. He has smashed 900 runs, while also picking up 36 wickets from 72 T20Is. He was algo looked in prime form in BPL 2024. Another safest c/vc pick.

Michael Bracewell :

Michael Bracewell is the promising allrounder who will be looking for leading from the front Kiwi's side for this series. Overall he's scored 113 runs and 21 wickets from 16 T20Is. His ability to contribute with both bat and ball adds value to his selection. One of the best c/vc pick for grand league.

Shaheen Afridi :

Shaheen Afridi is a beast with the new ball. With captaincy no longer a burden on him, the left-arm pacer can concentrate on his bowling. The star pacer can take wickets upfront and impact the game in the first 6 overs. The former Pakistan's skipper scalped 25 wickets in 17 innings against the NZ. One of the best c/vc pick from bowling section.

Zaman Khan :

Zaman Khan is the quality pacer who's bowls with pin point accuracy, especially in the death overs. He's managed to get just six wickets from nine t20i matches so far. Zaman Khan has improved his bowling a lot in the last 2 years and is Pakistan's important asset with the ball in hand. Good pick.

Ben Sears :

Ben Sears was impressive in his outings against Pakistan in the 5 match T20I series at home, picked up 4 wickets in just two outing against them. Sears can provide early breakthroughs for his team. Good pick.

Ish Sodhi :

Ish Sodhi is a wicket-taking bowler. In the middle order, Pakistan lacks someone who can strike him for boundaries. Hence, he becomes a dangerous weapon for New Zealand. Not to forget, the leg-spinner is an experienced player. The experienced spinner has 19 wickets at an average of 33.5 in 22 innings against the Pakistan. Punt pick.
