Pitch Report :

The pitch at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati will allow for good stroke play and the batters will find it easy to bat on the surface. The surface will not allow a lot of assistance to the bowlers and wicket taking is not going to be easy. It’s winter in India so there will be some help on offer with the new ball. Dew could also play a significant role in the outcome of the match. There should not be much swing available early on, allowing batters to go hard from ball one. Chasing could be the preferred option upon winning the toss, with dew likely to come into play in the second innings.

The average first innings score here is 190 runs so far.

Preview :

Rajasthan Royals (RR) will Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the 6th match of the Indian Premier League 2025 on Wednesday, at Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati. Both sides are heading into this fixture after suffering defeats in their opening encounters. The reigning champion Kolkata Knight Riders suffered a 7-wicket defeat in their opening encounter against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at home. They will be facing the inaugural season winner, Rajasthan Royals, in this game.

On the other Rajasthan Royals suffered a 44-run defeat in a high-scoring fixture against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). They bowled badly to concede a massive score but batted well to avoid significant damage.

Rajasthan Royals, whose bowlers were mercilessly taken for cleaners by the Sunrisers batters during their trip to Hyderabad, where they conceded a colossal 286 for 6 in 20 overs. The visitors didn’t panic at all in the run-chase and gave their all to post 242 for 6, eventually losing in the end by 44 runs. Dhruv Jurel (70), Sanju Samson (66), Shimron Hetmyer (42), and Shubham Dubey (34*) played their roles well but weren’t able to guide the side home. Riyan Parag’s captaincy stint didn’t begin in the right way as he was put under pressure straight away and he needs to be more proactive in the next two matches. Apart from Tushar Deshpande, who got 3 wickets, no other bowler was effective. Now they head to their second home, Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati where they play their next 2 matches.

On the other hand Kolkata Knight Riders not to take anything for granted as they got thoroughly thrashed by 7 wickets at the hands of newly formed Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the tournament opener. Asked to bat first on a batting belter, Knight Riders quickly surged to 107 for 2 in the first 10 overs. New skipper Ajinkya Rahane (56) in the company of Sunil Narine (44) added a 103-run stand for the 2nd wicket in no time.

After losing the duo in the span of 3 deliveries, they suffered a huge collapse in the middle overs and only managed 67 runs in the last 10 overs. In the defense, even their best bowlers have gone for plenty, especially Varun Chakravarthy, who had an off day going at 10.75 runs an over with a wicket to his name. Spencer Johnson on his KKR debut leaked 31 runs in just 2.2 overs. Sunil Narine did a fine job, picking up a wicket at an economy of 6.75.

One of the best captaincy choice for grand league.

In the 2024 IPL season, Narine delivered a standout all-round performance, scoring 488 runs and picking up 17 wickets at an exceptional economy rate of just 6.73.
