Preview :

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) will take on the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the fifth game of the IPL 2023 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Royal Challengers finished in the fourth position last season after winning eight out of 14 games and qualified for the playoffs for the third time in a row. They made some smart moves at the mini-auction, which occurred in December last year. They shelled out INR 1.9 crores for English pacer Reece Topley and INR 3.2 crores for Will Jacks. Jacks has been ruled out of the tournament due to a thigh injury and has been replaced by Michael Bracewell. Last season, RCB faced the Mumbai Indians once and won that game by seven wickets.

Mumbai Indians, the most successful franchise in the IPL's history, finished in last place during the 2021 season for the first time. They won just four out of 14 games in the season, and it was also the first time MI managed to win less than five matches. They traded Jason Behrendorff from the RCB before the mini-auction last year. In the auction, they got hold of Cameron Green for INR 17.5 crores, and he became the second-expensive player in the auction's history. They picked a total of seven more players in the auction. This year, MI will be without Jasprit Bumrah, who has been ruled out of the contest and has been replaced by Sandeep Warrier.
