Pitch Report :
The pitch at the Wanderers is a good and balanced pitch. At the start of the game, the pitch is going to assist the pacers but as the game progresses it will be of assistance to the batters. Preview :
South Africa (SA) will be up against Australia (AUS) in the 5th ODI match of the Australia Tour of South Africa at The Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg on September 17. The series is well placed between both these teams as both these teams have won two games each. The date is well poised for a series decider and the winner of the series.
The last match between the two teams was played at the SuperSport Park Centurion where Australia won the toss and elected to field. Being put to bat, proved to be a great decision for the African team as the batters looked great right from the start. It seemed to be the copy-paste version of the last game, but much better. After the top order had done their damage, then came the Heinrich Klaasen and David Miller show where they decimated the Australian bowlers. With a magical finish, South Africa put up a magnificent total of 416 runs on the board.
Things seemed to be repeating themselves from the last game and so was the performance from their top order. The total was already too huge a mountain to scale and none of the players from the top order could do something fruitful. Alex Carey seemed like a lone fighter from one end as he played a brilliant knock of 99 runs off just 77 balls and was unlucky to have missed out on his century. The Australians could not play for long and were bowled out for a total of 252 as they still lost the match by 164 runs.
