Preview :
Sri Lanka (SL) will be up against Afghanistan (AFG) in the 3rd T20I of the Afghanistan tour of Sri Lanka at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium in Dambulla on February 21. After clean-sweeping Afghanistan in the ODI series 3-0, Sri Lanka have won the T20I series as well having won both the games so far and would be eyeing another clean sweep here.
In the last game at the same venue, Afghanistan had won the toss and elected to field. Sri Lanka started the innings with a bang as the openers tried to make the most of the batting powerplay. They lost two wickets in quick succession but Samarawickrama got to bat at four and solidified the innings. Hasaranga and Mathews provided the finish they needed to end the innings on a high. They finished with a score of 187 runs on the board.
Against a good bowling attack and having failed to chase a decent total in the last game, Afghanistan had a huge task ahead of them. They needed to start well for the same but were unfortunate to have lost both the openers early. They lost their five wickets at the score of 31 and looked in deep trouble. Mohammad Nabi and Karim Janat did play handy knocks but could not save their team from a loss by 72 runs as they were bowled out for 115 within 17 overs.
