Sri Lanka and Namibia face each other in the very first encounter of the group stage. Both, Sri Lanka and Namibia have had a great run off late. As far as Sri Lanka is concerned, going by recent form the group stages shall be a mere formality. They lifted the Asia Cup getting past the giants of Asia such as India and Pakistan. On the other hand, Namibia have also done well off late in the shortest format of the game and would hope to replicate the performance of last year.

They hunt as a team which is their main strength. Considering their balance they are expected to start well in this tournament.

Namibia on the other hand, last played their T20I in May where they won the series 3-2 against Zimbabwe. Their preparations for this mega event have gone well as they beat Ireland in the warm-up game by 11 runs whereas the other match against Zimbabwe was abandoned due to rain. They did well to qualify for the Super 12 in the last year’s T20 World Cup where they finished 5th in Group 2 standings with a sole victory. Gerhard Merwe Erasmus will lead the side.
