Pitch Report :
The pitch at the Simonds Stadium is a balanced track and is expected to help the both batters & bowlers equally one again and. The pitch in Geelong was a bit tricky to bat on. The ball did not come on to the bat and the bounce was a bit spongy. Although the bowlers have a chance to limit the number of runs the batters score, they can do so if they bowl well. There are opportunities for both bowlers and hitters to succeed on this field. For batters, this field's peculiarities might provide more of a challenge than the pitch. Preview :
Sri Lanka and the United Arab Emirates will play the sixth game of the T20 World Cup 2022 on Tuesday (October 18) at the Simonds Stadium in Geelong. Sri Lanka lost their first game against Namibia by 55 runs. Namibia scored 163 runs for the loss of seven wickets in 20 overs and restricted Sri Lanka to just 108 runs in 19 overs. The Sri Lankan batters, who had a great run in the Asia Cup 2022, failed to carry the same momentum in the tournament. The bowlers also had an off day as none of the batters apart from Pramod Madushan picked more than one wicket.
Sri Lanka lost its match against Namibia was 55 runs. That was the third biggest defeat inflicted on a Test-playing nation by an associate country in T20 history. Fair to say that Sri Lanka would be shocked but keep in mind they also started the Asia Cup slowly. Sri Lanka actually had Namibia in a fair bit of trouble with the ball before losing the plot in the second half. Dushmanth Chameera and Wanindu Hasaranga bowled well and none of the others were particularly poor either. Conceding 163 was not a problem at all. The real issue was with the batting. Sri Lanka went hard and lost wickets regularly. This is not uncommon and can happen.
The UAE has regressed in recent months as a T20 team. Robin Singh as the coach has made some astounding choices and sidelined some of its best players. The conditions are also not to its liking at all and that was clear to see in the previous match. The UAE batters will get a lot of short stuff in this match and we don't think they have the skills to counter that. Chriag Suri, Muhammad Waseem, and Vriitya Aravind are perhaps their best three batters and none of them are particularly impressive. The bowling lacks pace and although Junaid Siddique is head and shoulders the best bowler for his team, he is not someone that any of the other Test playing nations will lose sleep over.
