Preview :
Zimbabwe will be lock horns with the Bangladesh in the 3rd & final last ODI match at Harare Sports Club in Harare on Wednesday. The hosts managed to win the second match by five wickets remaining and seal the series as well. Once again, star all-rounder, Sikandar Raza smashed an unbeaten century and took three wickets to guide his team to a 291-run chase with 15 balls remaining. Wicketkeeper batter Regis Chakabva also scored a brilliant 102-run knock and Tony Munyonga remained unbeaten on 30 runs to win the series.
Zimbabwe has succeeded in beating Bangladesh twice in a row in the one-day international format of the game. This is a big achievement for any cricketing team in the world. However, for Zimbabwe, this achievement is nothing short of a cause for celebration. This is their biggest win in the last five years of international cricket if not more. Zimbabwe mainly owes this win to Sikandar Raza who has been ins terrific form of late. It was yet another dominating performance by the Zimbabwean cricket team in the second ODI. Hosts were in prime form with the bat and their bowling department was also able to handle the pressure. Although they did allow the Bangladeshis to put on more than 300 runs on the board on both these occasions. The hosts will be keen to improve their bowling performance in the 3rd and final ODI between these two nations.
Sikandar Raza scored hundreds in both these matches and was instrumental in the success of the team. Zimbabwe is likely to go into this match with an unchanged side that played the second ODI against Bangladesh. They made several changes to the team in the second one-day international. But they are unlikely to change the side again for the final game. Innocent Kaia missed the second match. However, he is a rock-solid contributor to the Zim cause in the ODI format ever since he made a debut for the team. After scoring 110 runs with an immaculate strike rate of 90.16 he will be in charge of the middle order for Zimbabwe. Sikandar Raza is in the form of his life in this series. He has knocked off a couple of hundreds back-to-back and will be looking to score another one in the final match to make it 3 out of 3 in the series.
Bangladesh has been disappointing with both bat and ball. To make the matters worse for the team, injuries have plagued the side and have played a part in the side not doing well in the series. Bangladesh's bowling lacked penetration with the likes of Shoriful Islam, Taskin Ahmad, and Mehidy Hasan proving to be ineffective. Their batsmen have also batted a bit slowly although they did put on big scores in both the matches played so far. The problem was that the batsmen did not go for the kill in the ending portion of their innings. In the 3rd and last match of the series, the visitors will be hoping for a better performance collectively to try and capture a win. They will have to show a great fighting spirit to get back to the winning ways after this demoralizing series loss against the Zim.
Liton Das will be the wicketkeeper batsman for Bangladesh. He tends to be more effective with the bat for Bangladesh. He scored 81 runs in the last game. If he can improve his wicketkeeping skills he will become an invaluable asset to his team. Tamim Iqbal contributed decently in the first match by scoring 62 runs albeit with a slow strike rate of 70.28. But this would have added momentum to his form going into the final match of the series. Anamul Haq was successful in developing momentum with the bat as he scored 73 runs in the first match.
