Preview :

Zimbabwe will be squaring off against Ireland for the first time in the fourth match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022. Zimbabwe won four matches of their recent five T20I matches while Ireland manage to win three games out of their recent five T20I games. These two teams have played 8 matches against each other in this format so far where Zimbabwe managed to win 3 matches while Ireland won 5 games.

Zimbabwe has a very real chance of winning this match and we think it has the players with the experience necessary. Sikandar Raza, Sean Williams, Craig Ervine, and Ryan Burl form a very good batting lineup. Yes, the big power hitters are absent but they have the smarts to be able to pick the twos and target the boundaries when the opportunity arrives. Williams and Raza are the two players that we think could make a big contribution to Zimbabwe in this match and later on in the tournament. The big weakness for Zimbabwe is its bowling lineup. Normally, a variety of spinners end up doing most of the work for Zimbabwe but in Australia, those spinners are not going to be very effective.

Ireland has made some impressive strides in T20 cricket over the last year or so but it remains its weakest format by a fair distance. The batting has some good names on paper. Andrew Balbirnie, Paul Stirling, Harry Tector, and George Dockrell are all quite accomplished batters. The real threat will come from Paul Stirling at the top of the order but Ireland does not really have the kind of batting that allows it to take a lot of risks. We think the Ireland batting can be put under pressure. The bowling lineup for Ireland is about as good as what Zimbabwe has.
