Pitch Report :

The pitch at the Bulawayo Qweens Sport club is a traditionally batting-friendly surface where runs will come quickly. There is an even bounce on the wicket, and the batters can play their shots trusting the bounce. The outfield has also been great in the tournament, whereas the shorter boundaries make the job easier for the batters. However, the pacers have been able to move the ball, and the cold temperature works in the favor of the bowlers and thus the toss-winning captain would look to bat first. Sri Lanka have registered all three wins at Queens Sports Club, and all were one-sided. Two times more than 300 runs have been scored while one time Scotland chased down 290 against Ireland.

The average first innings score here is 275 runs.

Weather Report :

The temperature is expected to hover around 24°C on the Sunday with 32% humidity and 12 km/hr windspeed. There are no chances of rain during the game.

Preview :

Zimbabwe will lock horns with Sri Lanka in the 4th match of the Super Sixes round of the ICC World Cup Qualifier 2023 at the Queen’s Sports Club in Bulawayo on July 2. Zimbabwe had won three of their three matches and are at the second position. Sri Lanka, on the other hand, have a similar record but due to better net run-rate are at the top of the table.

The batting has been the main highlight of Zimbabwe’s performance so far. Sean Williams is in red-hot form, scoring 3 centuries and a half-century in his 5 innings so far. He is also the top scorer in the tournament. Supporting him in the top order is skipper Craig Ervine, who too is in good touch. Joylord Gumbie, Wesley Madhevere, and Ryan Burl will play the supporting roles here. Sikandar Raza has played an important role lower down the order, scoring runs at a brisk pace. He is also quite effective with the ball, picking up 9 wickets. The other spinners however haven’t been too effective. Richard Ngrava is the leading wicket-taker for the team with 12 wickets. He will lead the pace attack here along with Tendai Chatara and Blessing Muzarabani.

Pathum Nissanka and Dimuth Karunaratne will look to give the team a strong start here. Karunaratne is the leading run-scorer for the team and has scored 2 half-centuries and a century so far. The form of Kusal Mendis is a bit of a concern for Sri Lanka as he hasn’t been able to get going. However, the team has quite a few strong performers in the middle order, including Charith Asalanka, Dhananjaya De Silva, and Sadeera Samarawickrama. Dasun Shanaka and Wanindu Hasaranga add depth to the batting. Hasaranga has been very impressive with the ball, and is the leading wicket-taker of the tournament, picking up 20 wickets. His spin partner, Maheesh Theekshana too has shown some good form in the last couple of matches.
