On the question of returning to Team India, Shami said- 'I do not want to force and hurry. I want to return to the field after being 100 percent fit.'

Shami told PTI, 'The stronger I come back, the better it will be for me. I don't want to rush, because I don't want to risk getting injured again, whether it is a series against Bangladesh, New Zealand or Australia.' He said- 'I have already started bowling. Shami played his last international match in the 2023 ODI World Cup. He got injured in the final match against Australia.

Shami can play Ranji Trophy

Shami can be seen playing in the Ranji Trophy to be held in October. He can play for Bengal against UP on October 11 and against Bihar on October 18. If he plays domestic cricket, he can make a comeback in the Indian team from the Test matches against New Zealand.

If I need to play domestic to check my fitness, then I will play. The most important thing is that I am fully prepared for any challenge that comes ahead, be it team or format.

Can play Test against New Zealand

The 3 Test series between India and New Zealand will also start from October 16. The first Test against New Zealand will be played in Bengaluru from October 16, the second Test in Pune from October 24 and the third Test in Mumbai from November 1. If Shami manages to prove his match fitness, he may also get a chance to play the remaining 2 Tests of the series against New Zealand.

Shami recovering from ankle surgery

Mohammad Shami went to England in January this year and got his ankle surgery done. He remained away from the field for 6 months after the surgery.
