Former India captain Sourav Ganguly is optimistic about India's chances of winning the World Cup
Former India captain Sourav Ganguly is optimistic that if the Indian team continues to play such "good cricket" for the next 45 days, then India have a chance of winning the World Cup. Cricket fever is at its peak all over the world as only one week is left for the World Cup to start. The Blue team is full of confidence after winning the Asia Cup and the recently concluded ODI series against five-time world champions Australia.
Rohit Sharma-led Team India will enter the 2023 World Cup as the No.1 ODI team.
The former captain said that this year's tournament is going to be big because the Blue team is playing very well.
"This is going to be a big World Cup. The World Cup is a big tournament. India has been playing very well, so it is a matter of delight. We hope that they continue to play the same good Cricket for the next 45 days," Ganguly told reporters.
Many batsmen like Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer, and KL Rahul are back in form just ahead of the prestigious tournament.
Gill was in supreme form during India's ODI series against Australia, as the opening batsman scored a total of 178 runs in the series. After injury, Rahul and Iyer made a brilliant comeback and scored centuries.
Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah, who returned to the national team after a back injury almost a year ago, will play a key role for the Men in Blue. His fitness and performance will be extremely important for India's World Cup prospects.
Before starting their World Cup campaign, India will play two warm-up matches, the first of which will be played against England at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati on Saturday, followed by the Netherlands at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram on October 3.
India will start its World Cup campaign on October 8 with a match against Australia at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
The high-voltage encounter between arch-rivals India and Pakistan will take place on October 14 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
