Afghanistan defeated Pakistan for the first time in ODI

Afghanistan defeated Pakistan for the first time in ODI: Third upset of World Cup 2023, chased the target of 283 in 49 overs.
The pair of captain Shahidi and Rahmat Shah made an unbeaten partnership of 96 runs and led the team to victory.
Afghanistan has achieved its first ODI win against Pakistan. The team caused the third upset of the World Cup 2023. Afghan team defeated Pakistan by 8 wickets. Afghanistan has also defeated defending champion England in the same tournament. Whereas Netherlands caused the second upset of the tournament by defeating South Africa.
Pakistan won the toss and chose batting at Chepauk ground in Chennai. The team scored 282 runs for 7 wickets in 50 overs, Noor Ahmed took 3 wickets. Afghanistan achieved the target by losing 2 wickets in 49 overs. Ibrahim Zadran scored 87 runs, he also made an opening partnership of 130 runs with Rahmanullah Gurbaz. After losing the wicket of Zadran at 190 runs, Rahmat Shah made the team win by making a partnership of 96 runs with captain Hashmatullah Shahidi.
After the win over Pakistan, Afghanistan got 4 points, the team reached sixth position in the points table. While Pakistan is at number-5 even after its third defeat in 5 matches, its hopes of reaching the semi-finals have suffered a setback. The team will now have to depend on other teams along with winning its remaining four matches.
Gurbaz-Zadran were out, but Afghanistan remained in the match
Despite a good start in the first 10 overs, Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran batted cautiously. Both made a partnership of 130 runs. Gurbaz was out after scoring 65 runs, followed by Ibrahim Zadran who scored 87 runs and made a 60-run partnership with Rahmat Shah.
After Zadran's wicket, Rahmat Shah and captain Hashmatullah Shahidi did not allow any more wickets to fall. Both of them made a not out partnership of 96 runs and won the match. Rahmat played an unbeaten inning of 77 runs and Shahidi played a not out inning of 48 runs.
Hasan Ali brought Pakistan into the match by dismissing Zadran for 87 runs, although the team could not win.
After Gurbaz was out, Zadran was returned to the pavilion by Hasan Ali.
The openers gave a great start to the Afghan team which came out to chase the target of 283 runs. Both scored 60 runs in 10 overs of powerplay. The pair of Zadran-Gurbaz started aggressively from the first overs. Scored 10 runs in Shaheen's first over. 8 runs came in the second over. A total of 16 runs were scored in the third, fourth, fifth and sixth overs.
The umpire gave Zadran out in the sixth over. In such a situation, DRS saved him. After getting a lease of life, in the 8th over, Zadran along with Gurbaz scored 17 runs in one over of Haris Rauf. Both of them hit four fours in one over of Haris. During this period, poor fielding was also seen.
