Former fast bowler Ajit Agarkar has been appointed as the new chairman of the selection committee of Team India. BCCI announced this in a media brief released on Tuesday night. The board wrote, 'Agarkar has been made the Chief Selector in Test matches on the basis of seniority.

It was already pre-decided that Agarkar would become the chief selector

Released by IPL team Delhi Capitals: After the WTC final, IPL franchise Delhi Capitals released Agarkar from the post of assistant coach of their team. Immediately after this, the former fast bowler applied for the post of member of the selection committee.

BCCI reduced the age limit: After the departure of Chetan Sharma, there was a vacancy in the selection committee. BCCI has relaxed the application age limit for this post. Earlier it was 60 years. But the new age limit was changed to 45 years, due to which 45-year-old Agarkar got a chance to be a part of the committee.
