Avesh Khan added to India’s squad for 2nd Test
Madhya Pradesh fast bowler Avesh Khan, who made his ODI and T20 debut last year, has been included in India's Test squad for the second match against South Africa starting January 3 in Cape Town.
Due to Mohammed Shami being out, Avesh Khan has been included in the team.
Subject to fitness clearance, Shami was named in the preliminary squad selected for the tour. However, this did not happen from the BCCI medical team and later he was dropped from the series.
The BCCI announced the replacements after the first Test in Centurion, which India lost by an innings. Avesh took six wickets in three matches in the ODI series in South Africa earlier this month. In first-class cricket, Avesh has taken 149 wickets in 38 matches, including seven five-wicket hauls.
Indian team for the second Test: Rohit Sharma (captain), Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul (wicketkeeper), Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, Mohammad. Siraj, Mukesh Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah, Prasidh Krishna, KS Bharat (wicketkeeper), Abhimanyu Easwaran, Avesh Khan
