BCCI Announces INR 51 Crore Cash Reward For INDW Win World Cup

After the Indian women's cricket team's historic victory in the 2025 ICC Women's ODI World Cup, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced a ₹51 crore cash incentive. Not long after India defeated South Africa by 52 runs in the final at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah made the news.

A Grand Gesture of Recognition

The cash prize honors the team's outstanding performance during the competition. It is India's first-ever Women's ODI World Cup victory, and the BCCI's statement highlights how women's cricket is becoming more and more respected in the nation. 

Jay Shah praised the players, coaches, and support personnel on social media, referring to their performance as "a golden chapter in Indian cricket history."

“Congratulations to our World Cup-winning women’s team! The BCCI is proud to announce a cash reward of ₹51 crore to honor their outstanding achievement. Your triumph has inspired a new generation of cricketers,” Shah posted.

Honoring the Champions

The news is meant to bolster the spirits of Indian women's cricket, which has been growing in popularity. Throughout the competition, the players, under the leadership of skipper Harmanpreet Kaur, put on outstanding performances and defeated cricket giants like Australia, England, and South Africa.

India's victory was largely due to key performers like Shafali Verma, Deepti Sharma, Richa Ghosh, and Renuka Singh, who demonstrated consistency and poise under duress. The BCCI's award honors both individual excellence and the team's spirit. 

A Historic Win for India

In along to winning the prized ICC trophy, India's 52-run victory over South Africa in the final put an end to years of misery for the women's team. After placing second in both 2017 and 2020, it was a moment of contrition. A momentous event was observed in the crowded DY Patil Stadium: India's ascent to prominence in women's cricket.

Fans from throughout the country hailed the squad for creating history on social media, extending the festivities beyond the stadium. Leading cricket players, including Mithali Raj, Virat Kohli, and Sachin Tendulkar, praised the win as "a defining moment for Indian sport."
