In the IPL 2024 tournament opener at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) secured a thrilling victory over Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) by six wickets, courtesy of a stellar spell by Mustafizur Rahman (4 for 29) and crucial unbeaten knocks by Shivam Dube (34 runs from 28 balls) and Ravindra Jadeja (25 runs off 17 balls).

CSK's chase of 174 runs got off to an explosive start with Ruturaj Gaikwad and Rachin Ravindra, the new opening pair, punishing the RCB bowling attack, accumulating 38 runs in just four overs. However, RCB's Yash Dayal managed to break the partnership by dismissing Gaikwad for 15 runs off 15 balls. Despite this setback, Ravindra, making his CSK debut, continued to propel the innings forward alongside Ajinkya Rahane, guiding CSK to 62 for 1 after six overs.

The momentum shifted when Karn Sharma, the experienced leg-spinner for RCB, struck by removing Ravindra for a brisk 37 off 15 balls, caught by Rajat Patidar.
