England vs India Test Series Renamed Called “Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy”
Updated - 6-JUN-2025 6:0 IST

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) are reportedly in talks about renaming the England-India Test series as the "Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy." This is an important move that might change the legacy of one of cricket's greatest rivalries. If approved, the plan will pay tribute to James Anderson and Sachin Tendulkar, two of the most recognizable personalities in Test cricket history.
The India tour of the England test series 2025 starts from June 20th to August 4th, 2025, for 5 test matches. It is part of the World Test Championship 2025-27 edition.
Why Tendulkar and Anderson?
After an incredible two-decade career, England's great fast bowler James Anderson recently announced his retirement from international cricket. In addition to being England's all-time top wicket-taker, Anderson holds the record for most wickets taken by a fast bowler in Test history, with over 700. The cricket community holds him in high regard because of his longevity, reliability, and skill with the red ball.
Sachin Tendulkar, yet, is seen as the best batter to have come out of India. With more than 15,000 runs, 200 Test matches, and a record 51 Test hundreds, Tendulkar's impact on Indian and international cricket is still unmatched. A trophy named in his honor would represent India's cricketing history and legacy.
A Mark of Rivalry and Respect
It is not a novel idea to propose a designated prize between England and India. The majority of significant Test rivalries now have their titles, such as the Frank Worrell Trophy (Australia vs. West Indies) and the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (India vs. Australia). But even though England and India have a long history of competition dating back to 1932, their bilateral Test series hasn't had a memorable name. The "Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy" aims to change that.
