Indian vice-captain Shubman Gill has said that one series cannot decide the form of the entire team. After the team practice in Nagpur on Tuesday, he said, there are many players in the team, who have consistently performed well in many tournaments and series.
The Indian team lost 3-1 in the 5-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy series held in Australia. Star batsmen Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant and Shubman Gill himself were completely flopped in the series.
India vs England 1st ODI match in Nagpur
The Indian ODI team will play the first match of the 3-match ODI series against England starting from February 6 in Nagpur. With this series, India will also strengthen its preparations for the Champions Trophy starting from February 19.
We did not play as per our expectations in Australia: Gill
After practice, opener Gill told reporters, one series does not decide the form of the entire team. There are many players who have performed consistently well in many tournaments. We could not play according to our expectations in Australia.
Gill further said, we did not have luck with us, Jasprit Bumrah got injured on the last day of the Sydney Test. Had he been there, we could have won the match and the series would have been drawn. Before the defeat in Australia, India was clean swept 3-0 by New Zealand at home.
