Gujarat out of playoff race due to rain

63 group stage matches have been played in the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024). On Monday, the match between Gujarat Titans and Kolkata Knight Riders remained inconclusive due to rain. There was no toss in the match. With this result, Titans became the third team to be eliminated from the playoff race. KKR has been confirmed to play Qualifier-1.

The toss of the match did not take place due to heavy rain at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Monday. The match had to be canceled and both the teams got 1-1 point.

Gujarat Titans now have 11 points from 13 matches with 5 wins, 7 losses and one inconclusive match. Now the team will be able to reach only 13 points even after winning the last match, which is not enough to reach the playoffs.

Kolkata now has 19 points from 13 matches with 9 wins, 3 losses and one inconclusive match. The team is on top and their stay in top-2 is confirmed. Because apart from Rajasthan, no team will be able to make it to the playoffs by scoring more than 18 points. Therefore, KKR will now play Qualifier-1 on 21st May in Ahmedabad itself.

If they lose today, Delhi Capitals will be out.

In the 17th season, the match between Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Supergiants will be played in Delhi from 7:30 PM. Delhi has 12 points from 6 wins and 7 losses in 13 matches. By defeating Lucknow, the team will keep alive its hopes of qualifying for the playoffs by scoring 14 points. The team will also move from sixth to fifth position. If Delhi loses, it will be out of the playoff race.

Lucknow has a chance to be in top-4

Lucknow Supergiants have 12 points from 6 wins and 6 losses in 12 matches. By defeating Delhi, the team will move from 7th to 5th position with 14 points. The team needs to win by a margin of more than 100 runs to reach fourth position. If the team loses, its chances of reaching the playoffs will be reduced.

Bumrah top wicket taker

MI's Jasprit Bumrah remains the top wicket taker of the tournament. He has 20 wickets in his name in 13 matches. Harshal Patel of Punjab is also at second position with 20 wickets. Harshal is at second place due to higher economy rate.

Kohli top run scorer

RCB's Virat Kohli is the top run scorer of the tournament, with 661 runs in 13 matches. After him, CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad has scored 583 runs.
