MI snatched the captaincy from Rohit and handed over the captaincy to Hardik.

Before this season's auction, MI management had traded Hardik to Gujarat for Rs 15 crore. MI gave Rs 15 crore to Gujarat for this and also gave a separate amount. Even before the auction, the management had removed Rohit and made Hardik the captain. For this reason, the fans are unhappy with the removal of the current captain of the Indian team and five-time IPL winner Rohit Sharma, Hardik said he will be bowling as well as batting for MI this season, having previously remained a batsman only due to injury concerns. He said, I will bowl.

Regarding the captaincy controversy, Pandya said, I respect the sentiments of the fans and would only like to think about what better I can do for the team as captain.

Hardik said on his return, it is a wonderful feeling to be back. Everything I have known since 2015 has come from this journey. I never thought I would be able to reach this far. I am looking forward to playing at my favorite ground Wankhede.

Hardik also said that he is looking forward to returning with Indian teammate Jasprit Bumrah. Hardik said, Jassi (Jaspreet) is our number-1 player.
