Zimbabwe got off to a good start after their comeback. The team's openers had scored 43 runs without loss in 8 overs. But in the 9th over, leg spinner Wanindu Hasaranga came to bowl. Sri Lanka dominated as soon as he arrived, he gave the team its first success on the score of 43 runs.

Hasaranga did not stop here, he took 3 more wickets in the next 2 overs. Zimbabwe's score went from 43/0 to 48/4.
