South African wicketkeeper batsman Heinrich Klaasen has announced his retirement from Test cricket. He will continue to play ODI and T-20. Clausen has played only four test matches for South Africa. He made his Test debut against India in Ranchi in 2019.

Henrique is the second South African cricketer to retire from Test cricket earlier this year. Before him, Dean Elgar had announced his retirement from Test cricket. He played his last Test in the second Test against India on 3 January in Cape Town.

Heinrich announced his retirement on Instagram. He posted and wrote, I have announced my retirement from red ball (Test) cricket. I love this format. It was not easy to take retirement from this. I could not sleep for many nights. After much consideration, I have announced my retirement. I faced many things inside and outside the field. Who has made me a cricketer. It was great to play Tests and I am happy that I could represent the country.

Played 54 ODIs and 43 T20s for South Africa

Clausen said that he will continue to play in ODI and T-20. He is currently part of the South Africa national team. Klaasen has played a total of 54 ODIs and 43 T-20 matches for Africa so far. During this period, he has scored 1723 runs in 50 ODI innings at an average of 40.07 and 722 runs in 39 T-20 innings at an average of 22.56. Clausen has four centuries and six half-centuries in his name in ODIs and four half-centuries in T-20.

2 test match series between South Africa and New Zealand

After the series against India, South Africa will now play a 2-Test series against New Zealand from February 4. After this the team will also play against West Indies, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Pakistan.
