As in the previous edition, the 2026 T20 World Cup will consist of 20 teams and 55 matches. As co-hosts, India and Sri Lanka have already qualified, as have the top eight teams from the 2024 competition and the top-ranked teams as on June 30, 2024.

Similar SA20 T20 Leagues Also Change their Schedule

This change is in line with other franchise leagues' comparable actions. To accommodate the league, South Africa's SA20, for example, has canceled its customary Boxing Day Test and moved its 2026 season from December 26 to January 26.
