Rohit Sharma was caught at fine leg after scoring 5 runs.
The first match of the Test series between India and South Africa is being played in Centurion. South African captain Temba Bavuma won the toss and chose to bowl first at the SuperSport Park ground.
Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer are at the crease for India. The team has scored 24 runs at the loss of 3 wickets after 11.1 overs. Shubman Gill was caught behind after scoring 2 runs and Yashasvi Jaiswal after scoring 17 runs, both of them were sent to the pavilion by debutant Nandre Berger.
Rohit got out while playing pull-on short ball
Captain Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal came to open for India. Both of them batted carefully for the first 4 overs. Kagiso Rabada bowled the last ball of the 5th over with a short pitch, Rohit was surprised by the bouncer and played a pull shot. The ball did not hit his bat properly and he was caught at long leg position. Rohit scored 5 runs on 14 balls.

The match started half an hour late due to rain
The match was scheduled to start at 1:30 pm at the SuperSport Park Stadium in Centurion but the toss was delayed due to rain. The toss took place at 1:45 pm and the match could start at 2:00 pm.
Prasidh Krishna made test debut
Fast bowler Prasidh Krishna made his Test debut for India, Jasprit Bumrah handed him the debut cap. Left arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja could not play the first Test due to injury, Ravichandran Ashwin got the chance in his place. Nandre Berger and David Bedingham got a chance to make their Test debut for South Africa.
Team India has not been able to win even a single test series in South Africa till now. The team played 8 series here and lost 7 of them. Only one series could be drawn. The series is important for both the teams to reach the final of the World Test Championship (WTC), Team India captain Rohit Sharma was seen talking to South Africa's Dean Elgar before the match.
