IND v SA 2025: Nortje Rejoins South Africa's T20I Squad
Updated - 22-NOV-2025 5:12 IST

Premier fast bowler Anrich Nortje's return to the national team after an extensive injury layoff has given South Africa a major boost ahead of their 2025 T20I tour to India. His return will help to bolster South Africa's pace assault as they get ready for a demanding three-match Twenty20 International series that begins later this month.
A Crucial Comeback After Injury
Nortje last played for South Africa in early 2024 after battling recurring back problems for more than a year. Cricket South Africa (CSA) has been closely monitoring his recovery, and following a successful rehabilitation program and positive domestic cricket performances, the selectors have determined that he is ready to return to international play.
South Africa severely missed the right-arm tearaway speedster's raw pace and wicket-taking danger during the most recent Twenty20 International series. The pacer is noted for regularly recording speeds beyond 150 km/h.
Boost to the Bowling Unit
Nortje's arrival comes with a crucial moment for the Proteas. South Africa will depend significantly on pace changes and aggressive lengths against a strong Indian batting order that includes power hitters and good anchors.
He will join Gerald Coetzee, Marco Jansen, and Kagiso Rabada in what looks to be one of the world's most formidable pace attacks. In the powerplay and final overs, his work with Rabada in particular could be crucial.
