IND vs WI Test 2025: Alzarri Joseph Ruled Out With Back Injury
Updated - 30-SEP-2025 7:7 IST

Fast bowler Alzarri Joseph's repeated lower back injury has caused the West Indies to face a serious blow ahead of their upcoming ind vs wi test 2025.
Injury Details & Diagnosis
Cricket West Indies claims that Joseph started to feel uneasy, which led to scans. He was unable to continue with the two-match Test trip because these scans showed a deterioration of a lower back issue that had previously healed.
It looked stupid for him to participate in the India Tests when the board verified that the injury had returned.
Impact on the Squad & Replacement
Given that Shamar Joseph, another senior pacer, had already been ruled out earlier, Joseph's loss hurts the West Indies' pace attack.
The board decided to replace Joseph for the Test series with Jediah Blades due to his unavailability.
Although Blades has limited-overs cricket experience, he has not yet made a name for himself in Test cricket.
Jason Holder, a seasoned all-rounder, was also mentioned by Cricket West Indies as a possible replacement; however, he turned down the call-up, citing a scheduled medical procedure.
Strategic & Contextual Implications
Given his position as a front pacer and his past contributions to the Test team, Joseph's absence is greatly felt.
Due to this defeat, the West Indies will need to rearrange their bowling lineup for the India series, which starts in Ahmedabad on October 2.
Shamar Joseph's absence had already made the squad weaker, and now that Alzarri is also out, the pace attack's depth and balance are being tested.
