Australia has scored 311 runs for 6 wickets against India on the first day of the fourth Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Steve Smith returned unbeaten on 68 and captain Pat Cummins on 8 runs till stumps on Thursday.
The Australian team won the toss and decided to bat at the MCG ground in Melbourne. 19-year-old young opener Sam Konstas (60 runs) and Usman Khawaja (57 runs) gave the Kangaroo team a steady start. Both of them had an opening partnership of 89 runs in 116 balls.
Marnus Labuschagne contributed 72 runs and wicketkeeper Alex Carey contributed 31 runs. Mitchell Marsh was out on 4 and Travis Head on a personal score of zero. Australia dominated the first session of the day. While the second session was mixed. Then India made a comeback in the last session of the day.
At present, the 5-match series is tied at 1-1. India won the first and Australia won the second Test. The third test was a draw.
