Gautam Gambhir and Sanath Jayasuriya will both be coaching in international cricket for the first time.

India tour of Sri Lanka is starting from July 26. On Thursday, the Sri Lankan Cricket Board released the schedule of the series of 3 ODIs and 3 T20 matches. At the same time, just before the tour, Sri Lanka's T20 captain Wanindu Hasaranga also left the captaincy.

This tour will be the first assignment of the newly appointed head coach of the Indian team, Gautam Gambhir. Also, former Sri Lankan legendary batsman Sanath Jayasuriya will also start his international coaching career with this tour.

According to the schedule, the first match of the T20 series will be played in Pallekele on July 26 at 7:00 pm. The ODI series will start in Colombo from August 1. At present, both the teams have not been announced for this tour.

This will be the first assignment of Indian coach Gambhir

Gautam Gambhir became the head coach of Team India 2 days ago. This will be Gambhir's first assignment as Indian coach. 42-year-old Gambhir has replaced Rahul Dravid, popularly known as The Wall. Dravid's tenure ended after the T20 World Cup. Gambhir's tenure will last till July 2027. Gautam Gambhir faces 5 big challenges

Rahul or Pandya can captain

After Rohit Sharma's retirement, India's T20 captain is yet to be selected. This responsibility can be handed over to Hardik Pandya. He was the vice-captain of the Indian team in the T20 World Cup. On this tour, wicketkeeper batsman KL Rahul can be seen leading the team in ODIs.

Team India, which won the World Cup on June 29, is currently on a tour of Zimbabwe, where the selectors have sent a young team under the captaincy of Shubman Gill. Senior players have been rested from this tour.

Rohit-Kohli, Bumrah to get rest from ODI series

BCCI may give rest to senior players of the Indian team that won the T20 World Cup last week, captain Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Jaspreet Bumrah from the Sri Lanka tour. Hardik Pandya or KL Rahul may be given the captaincy of the ODI team.
