70% chance of rain in the semi-final, no reserve day; if cancelled then the group topper will play the final

Team India will have to win all three matches in the Super-8 to strengthen its position in the T-20 World Cup. The team will face Bangladesh from 8 pm tonight, it has already defeated Afghanistan in the first match. India's third and last match will be against Australia.

This kind of situation is being created for the Indian team due to the high chances of rain in the semi-final. If the team reaches the semi-final, it will have to play that match in Guyana on June 27. There is a possibility of heavy rain on the day of the match. There is no reserve day for that match either. That is, if the semi-final is cancelled, then only the team that wins all the matches in the group and is at the top of the points table will reach the final.

India is currently at number 2 in Group-1

India defeated Afghanistan by 47 runs in its first match of Super-8. With a big win, Team India has brought its run rate to 2.35, but the team is second in the points table of Group-1, because Australia defeated Bangladesh by 28 runs in its first match under the DLS method. The margin of victory of the team was less than India, but the run rate improved due to the DLS method. Australia is first in the table with a run rate of 2.47.

India second match will be played against Bangladesh in Antigua today at 8 pm. India played 13 T-20s against Bangladesh, won 12 and lost just one. That means today India can win its second consecutive match in the Super-8. With this win, the team will reach the top of the points table. However, the Kangaroo team's second match is from 6 am on Sunday. By winning it by a big margin, it can come back on top. India played 31 T-20s against Australia, won 19 and lost 11.

India can reach semi-finals by winning 2 matches

India can make it to the semi-finals even by winning 2 matches in Super-8, because in this condition Bangladesh will lose 2 matches and if Australia also wins its second match tomorrow then Afghanistan will also lose for the second time. That means Bangladesh and Afghanistan teams will be out of the race for semi-finals, because even after winning both the last matches they will not be able to reach 4 points. Whereas India and Australia will have 4-4 points.

Last match against Australia, it is very important to win it

India and Australia will clash against each other in St. Lucia on 24th June in Group-1 of Super-8. If we look at the current conditions, both the teams will play this match after winning 2-2 matches. That means whichever team wins in St. Lucia will finish first in Group-1. Whereas, the losing team will make it to the semi-finals by finishing second.

Top 2-2 teams from both the groups will play the semi-finals

In Super-8, eight teams have been divided into 2 groups of 4-4. Group-1 has India, Australia, Afghanistan and Bangladesh. Group-2 has England, South Africa, West Indies and America. The teams at the top-2 positions in the points table of both the groups will play the semi-finals.

In one semi-final, the top team of Group-1 will face the team at the second position in Group-2. Similarly, in the second semi-final, the team at the first position in Group-2 will face the team at the second position in Group-1.

Why is it important to reach the semi-finals by being at the first position?

Being at the top of the group is important first of all so that we can compete with the weaker team of the other group, that is, the team at the second position. And the second reason is the ICC rule. ICC had already decided before the tournament that if the semi-final is cancelled due to rain, then the team at the top of the Super-8 points table will be considered the winner.

India semi-final in Guyana, heavy rains expected here

ICC had already decided before the tournament that if India reaches the semi-final, then the match will be held in Guyana. This match will start on 27 June at 8 pm as per Indian time. There is no reserve day for this, because the match will start at 10:30 am as per West Indies time.

If it rains in India's semi-final, then 250 minutes i.e. 4 hours, 10 minutes of extra time will be given. In this, if even 10-10 overs of play is not possible between the two teams, then the match will be cancelled. In this condition, the top team of the Super-8 group will play the final.

There is a 70% chance of rain in Guyana on 27 June, that is, if India has to strengthen its position in the semi-finals, then the team will have to win all three matches in Group-1 and finish at the top of the points table. If Team India loses to Australia or Bangladesh and comes second and in this situation the semi-final is cancelled, then India will not be able to reach the final either.

Is there no reserve day in the second semi-final as well?

Another semi-final of the T-20 World Cup will be played in Trinidad on 27 June from 6 am. This match will start on 26th June at 8:30 pm as per West Indies time. There is a 70% chance of rain on this day too, however if the match is not held on 26th June then 60 minutes of extra time will be given.

If the match is still not held then 27th June has been kept as reserve day. On this day 190 minutes i.e. 3 hours, 10 minutes of extra time will be given. There is a 60% chance of rain on 27th June too. If even 10-10 overs of play is not possible in 190 minutes then it will also be considered cancelled. Here too, only the team which is at the top of the points table of the Super-8 group will get the ticket to the final.
